Being inactive is having a significant impact on our health and wellbeing. One in four people are said to be physically inactive and with the current cost of living crisis affecting many, people do not have the money to pay for gym memberships or fitness classes.

Employers have a duty of care for the health and safety of its employees and that includes their mental health and wellbeing. Rising obesity, stress levels and sick days are all being blamed on bad diet, lack of exercise and working long hours. Few people have the time to exercise because of the demands of their job.

Many employers are now developing their health and wellbeing policy for in the workplace and focusing on their employee’s mental health and how they can improve it.

The average person spends 35 hrs at work per week, which adds up to 1,795 hrs a year and over 84,365 hrs in a lifetime.

In my experience, when employers have offered a free yoga class to their employees, it is very well received. Staff feel valued, they feel they are being looked after and the company has their best interests at heart. This really lifts morale and ultimately helps with employee's mental health/ wellbeing.

There are many benefits of yoga. Please see below -

  • decreases stress

  • relieves anxiety

  • improves flexibility

  • builds muscle strength

  • improves posture

  • builds a community

Yoga helps those employees who are on their feet all day long and those who are sedentary. All I need to help you provide this invaluable service to your employees is a medium open space, such as a meeting room or cafeteria. The cost is as little as £60 an hour.
